The Junior Leaders Council [JLC] was founded in March 2017, with the vision of embracing and empowering future community leaders. This opportunity gives them a platform to give back to the community and develop leadership skills.

Cortney’s Place has nine high school students participate in the JLC with the purpose of developing fun adventures to enhance Cortney’s Place programs and create new friendships. JLC has given back to Cortney’s Place in many ways, honoring our students, and supporting adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. One of the most impactful events is the Winter Formal. High school students raise money, plan, and implement their ideas, producing a themed formal dance for our students.

The Cortney’s Place Board of Directors honors the founding JLC members with a Youth Leadership Award for their multiple acts of kindness and very big hearts.
